According to Labour Market Statistics from the Labour Force Survey, there was a staggering 2,448,000 people unemployed throughout the UK in the 3 months ending August 2010. That equates to a remarkable 7.7% of all employable people within the UK who are out of work.

Some of the worst affected areas in the UK for the 12 months ending March 2010 were Blaenau Gwent in Wales which reported unemployment figures of 15%. Following closely behind was Tower Hamlets in London with 14.5% and Kingston Upon Hull with 14.4%. These figures were taken from the Office for National Statistics.
