Employers Liability Insurance - The Facts

As the majority of businesses require at least the minimum cover from Employer Liability Insurance therefore it is important to know the facts which surround the insurance.

Valid certificate of employers’ liability insurance should be clearly displayed. Employers have a legal requirement to display the certificate and ensure it is easily visible by all staff members. If the certificate is displayed electronically, all staff must be able to access it. Failure to comply could result in a fine of up to £2500 per day.

Employers’ Liability Insurance is required for most businesses who employ staff. Staff are defined as those who are under a contract of employment and who you deduct N.I from their salary or wage. Part time workers are also included in this.
Employers’ liability insurance is not a required to cover contractors. Employers’ liability insurance is not needed for those workers who are contractors, work for other employers, and workmen/women who provide a service to your business and who use their own materials and tools.
